GIVING BACK

I am part of family that has always believed in serving the local community and giving back wherever possible.

TRAIL BUILDING

Without the Trail builders, our trails would deteriorate and become unrideable. It takes a special skill to appreciate the angles which ramps should be or the curve that a berm should hold to ensure that riders stay on the trail. One of the more important and less loved parts of mountain biking is trail building (and maintenance), because someone needs to keep the trails running when they get run down, or take the time to make new ones. I first started fixing jumps and trails when I was 12 - with my friend Thorin - at my local pump track in Fish Hoek. By the time I was 13 I was building jumps at the Black Hill jump-line near my home. Over the last 3 years we have maintained this line and expanded it to include new jump lines.

SKILLS COACHING

I enjoy coaching others how to to get the most out of their bike. I am currently working at the Constantia Uitsig Bike Park helping coach some of the riders looking to improve their riding. Whether you simply want to learn some of the basic skills of riding trails or develop the confidence to ride some of those really touch lines in the mountains, a few coaching sessions can help you get there.

BUILDING RAMPS

I run a small business and service to the community by building mountain bike ramps that can be used in the garden. I have donated a number of ramps over the past year to help build the brand.  This picture is of one of the ramps I built for the Bike Park to use as part of their skills coaching for kids.
